2.30pm Friday 17 May 2024

Uncle Robbie Thorpe (assisted by CAMP SOVEREIGNTY Interim Executive Officer Jane Collins) commences good faith negotiations with

(i) Melbourne City Councillor Dr Olivia Ball, Health Wellbeing and Belonging Portfolio Lead, Aboriginal Melbourne Deputy Portfolio Lead (to Lord Mayor Sally Capp Portfolio Lead) and

(ii) Melbourne City Council Chief of Staff to CEO Alison Leighton, Kirsty Pearce.

Present in Court as witnesses to proceedings:

Uncle Crow (Wotobaluk)  Uncle Thorne, Jalena Thorne, Robbie Thorpe Jnr (all Boonwurrung) and many allies  in court witnessing the proceedings River, Manju, Ibi, Thea, Reed, Clare Land, “Tall Beret Person”– and watching live stream Jasper Cohen-Hunter, George, Hazel and friends around the continent (and maybe the planet?) as well as (presumably) the Attorneys-General of the States and Territories and the Commonwealth of Australia– who had all been served the day before with the Notice of a Constitutional Matter– and the prospective respondents, Melbourne City councillors and executive leadership team, workers, contractors, etc.

Good result too when Peter Willis KC and barrister Laura Hilly talked to high-school student Jalena who is interested in a law career about the work-experience program at the Bar for high school students (and later mentoring program for Law Students).

Jane Collins submitted proposal to Olivia Ball and Kirsty Pearce– click here to read Camp Sovereignty IEO Jane Collins email to MCC CEO’s Chief of Staff Kirsty Pearce , 5pm 17.5.24

Case abandoned, promising relationship developing here at last.

4pm Tuesday 21 May 2024

Smoking Ceremony this afternoon at Camp Sovereignty to welcome Olivia Ball, Kirsty Pearce and Dean Robertson with didj and clapsticks. Uncle Crow did the welcome and remembered and honoured the Aboriginal remains buried there, Uncle Robbie spoke about healing, Kirsty and Olivia responded. Uncle Robbie invited and offered the Melbourne City Council to have events here at the fire in the future. Over a cuppa before the smoking, Interim Executive Officer of Camp Sovereignty, Jane Collins, and George had a productive chat with Kirsty and Olivia and Dean about the way forward together.
